I'm a proud homemaker

The Daughters of Catulle Mendes at the Piano, 1888 Giclee Print by Pierre-Auguste Renoir at AllPosters.com

I have just read this great post and, following Mrs. June Fuentes challenge, I decided to say this once more: I'm a proud homemaker and I'm not ashamed of it. I have lived the lies of feminism for some time, though in my heart I longed to be at home, taking care of my family and our home. And God, in His immense grace, made it possible for me to live and defend biblical womanhood. I still have a long way to go and, unfortunately, I don't have any mentors. I do have special women in my life but most of them don't understand these things. My mentors are women like Mrs. June Fuentes. I have read many inspiring books and many inspiring blogs that helped me to better understand what the Bible says about womanhood and I am grateful for all those women who are not ashamed for standing for these truths.

Like Jamie, it is a bit difficult for me to write about these things «because I have very good friends that have children and have chosen work outside of their home. I do not want to offend them or anyone else in any way! I do believe that staying home to raise your children is the best choice, but I understand that this choice isn't always available for each family.» But, at the same time, just as other women think that we should all work outside their home and are not ashamed of defending that, I have the right to do the same and stand up for what I believe.

A few hours before I read Mrs. June Fuentes post, I went to a shop and met an older woman I know but who I haven't seen for more than a year. She asked some questions about our family but the main one was: Are you still not working? And I said: Yes, I do work. At home. I've had many situations like this one but I don't want to think too much about that and I also stopped trying to justify the way I live. I don't have to do it and I need to concentrate on my duties as a wife, mother and homemaker.

I still have many things to learn and, as I said before, I still have a long way to go, but I'm getting older and rather than feeling sorry for not having any mentors, I should start doing something and «teach the younger women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God.» (Titus 2:4-5)

I think it's great and the best calling in the world! I wish I could do it!
