No ideas!!!

cartoon from www.weblogcartoons.com

Cartoon by Dave Walker. Find more cartoons you can freely re-use on your blog at We Blog Cartoons.

Today I sat here in front of my computer, read my messages, read some blogs, but couldn't think of anything to write about, so I'll just leave you with this cartoon.
It's raining a lot, a good day to stay at home, as we usually say, and I'm happy to be at home, not only when it rains, but always. Once again, DD is not having her tennis class because of the rain but she's having her dance class. And I'll see if I can finish knitting her scarf. I'll show it to you when it's ready. Don't expect to see anything special because I'm still learning so I'm just doing the basic. But of course Catarina loves it. She says it is beautiful. How sweet!!!

Homeschooling tip

I haven't written much about homeschooling lately but today I want to share a homeschooling tip with you. Keep great books lying around. Instead of having all our books kept in their shelves, I've decided to put some good books on a small table we have in our living-room so that we can see them. And when we're sitting on our couch, we just pick one, I read aloud to DD, she asks questions, and it's not a formal thing. It works well with my daughter because she doesn't see it as an obligation. She just sees the books, gets curious and opens them.

Happy Homemaker Monday

Sandra is hosting Happy Homemaker Monday and I'm joining her.

On my bedside table: The Bible and a travel magazine with pictures from Zermatt (Switzerland), a place I love and where I have spent one of the best holidays of my life.

On my TV: I don't usually have the TV on at this time of the day, except to watch the news while I'm having my breakfast.

On the menu for tonight: I still don't know. DH is travelling once again and DD doesn't like special recipes. So, probably it will be something very simple

On my To Do List: Laundry to put away, vacuuming, ironing, homeschooling...

New Recipe I tried last week: Nothing new

In the craft basket: Crochet, knitting and a diaper cake.

Looking forward to: Sun. I don't mine the rain but we've had so much that our house, and especially my bedroom, is having humidity problems.

Tip for this week: I don't know if it's this time of the day (too early to think. LOL) but I can't think of anything.

Favorite Blog Post of the week (mine or other): Home is where the heart is by Irma. It is legitimate to want to have a better material life but there's something much more important than that.

Favorite photo from last week:
DD making scones.

Lesson learned the past few days: That we should focus on our blessings, on what we already have and how we can use that, and not on our limitations, on what we don't have. I thought about this when Pastor Tito showed us a video of Nick Vujicic.
On my Prayer List: Cristina's surgery, my brother and mu sister-in-law, for God to give them direction in the decisions they have to make, my Mum's vision.
Devotionals, Scripture Reading, Key Verses: Matthew 6:25-34 «Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?
And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?'For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own». Pastor Rubinho talked about this yesterday and it's important to think about this in these times of crisis. Many times, we worry about food and clothes but we don't have to worry about that. We don't have to ask God for that but we should ask to «grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ» II Peter 3:18

200th Post - Blog Addiction

cartoon from www.weblogcartoons.com

Cartoon by Dave Walker. Find more cartoons you can freely re-use on your blog at We Blog Cartoons.

Last night I had a dream and there was a blogger friend in it!!! Can you imagine that? Am I becoming an addict? I hope not. I think I should impose a blog ban on myself over this weekend to see how much of an addict I really am. Just kidding! I love blogging but I don't think I am addicted to it, though I know that I have to be careful because sometimes I tend to be a bit obsessive about things I take on, like reading, writing, and more recently, knitting and crocheting! Have a wonderful weekend all of you. Oh, I forgot to tell youabout my dream. Sandra, I was visiting you, our children were playing together and I was helping you prepare those yummy recipes. I just don't know where our DH's were. I didn't see them. LOL

Tea & Scones in a Wintery Day

In a cold and rainy day like this is, there is nothing like a cup of tea and scones to warm you up. So DD and I headed to the kitchen and she made the scones. I didn't help! I just gave her the ingredients and put the scones in the oven.

She just loves breaking the eggs.

And this is the final result. They were delicious.

And I drank my tea in this new mug that my dear friend Márcia gave me last Christmas.

Happy Homemaker Monday

As I am a happy homemaker, I had to join this new Monday Feature that Sandra has created. Here it goes:

On my bedside table: The Bible and nothing else, which is not at all usual because I'm an avid reader. But I have just finished a book and am still looking for another good book to read.

On my TV: Disney Channel. DD is watching it.

On the menu for tonight: We've had leftovers. DH is travelling and when he's not at home, I don't always cook dinner.

On my To Do List: I just need to rest. I woke up early and had a very busy day.

New Recipe I tried last week: No new recipes

In the craft basket: Knitting material. We had our knitting tea this Saturday and I am very excited about it though I'm just starting and I'm still very confused.

Looking forward to: A new bedroom

Homemaking Tip for this week: I'm so tired that I cannot think of anything to post here!

Favorite Blog Post of the week (mine or other): Getting to know me, by Sandra. It was something very original and a great way of knowing one of my favourite bloggers better.

Favorite photo from last week: I didn't take any photo last week.

Lesson learned the past few days: We must never give up on people (I don't know if this makes sense in English, sometimes I just don't know how to express myself in English) because God can transform people's lives in a way that seems impossible to us. We tend to say that there's nothing that can be done, that people do not change, but that isn't true. The lady I stayed with in Lincoln last November told me that she has prayed for her husband for 37 years!!! And God has changed him and his life.

On my Prayer List: My Mum and her incoming surgery.

Devotionals, Scripture Reading, Key Verses: «I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world» John 16:33

I have received this award from LadyKatherine. Thank you very much.

"This blog invests and believes the PROXIMITY - nearness in space, time and relationships! These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in prizes or self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers! Deliver this award to eight bloggers who must choose eight more and include this cleverly-written text into the body of their award."

And I have also been tagged. These are the rules:

6th Picture Meme!

1.Go to your Picture Folder on your computer or wherever you store your pictures.
2.Go to the 6th Folder, then pick the 6th picture in that folder.
3,Post that picture on your blog and the story that goes along with the picture.
4.Tag 6 other peoples that you know or don’t know to do the same thing and leave a comment on their blog or an e-mail letting them know you chose them.

I am passing this award, and also tagging, the following blogs:

As for the picture meme, I don't have a 6th folder in my computer because when our computer had problems, I had to take them to another place. So I decided to post here the 6th photo and it is this one. It was taken last December (17th), my Mum's birthday and from left to right you can see myself (!!!), my Mum, my Sister-in-law and my Brother. And in front of us, my DD.
